Info

The area we hunt is Game Hunting Area 13 (GHA 13) which offers a generous amount of bear, deer, elk, and moose. The hunting pressure is limited due to the small number of hunters in Manitoba compared to the massive area. The area is known as the Porcupine Hills and is located along the western border of Manitoba approximately six hours north of our city center of Winnipeg. The western side of Manitoba has the highest color phase percentage in the province and being largely agricultural aids in the growth of the bears. The Porcupine Hills is one of the few areas of Manitoba that offers elevation changes along with lakes, rivers, creeks, and swamps.

The camp is located north of Swan River Manitoba. Follow Hwy 10 north past the town of Bowsman until you begin entering forested area. Start watching for Hwy 268 to Birch River and turn right into town. Take another right onto Victoria Ave, and again right onto Wilson St. Camp is at the end on the right.

Gear

Preparing for a hunt and deciding what or what not to bring can often be a frustrating task. Treat this hunt as you would preparing for your hunts at home. Rubber boots (or other waterproof boots) make the hunt more enjoyable as well as a bug jacket and Thermacell. Personal preference will determine most of your gear with some items being essential prior to arrival here. We don’t require a hunter to use scent elimination systems but encourage staying clean without scented hygiene products. Some essentials are:

>safety harness and padded seat cushion

> pull up rope

> a tuned bow with broadheads that have been dialed in. (minimum 7/8″ cutting diameter and 40 lb. bow)

> sleeping bag

> positive attitudeā€¦..or else!!! (Detention Stand)

***no guns, no crossbows, no exceptions*** (except in the all weapons camp)

Stickflingers will provide all stands, blinds,  skinning gear, & practice targets.
